DIY PATIO EDITION | How to Make Geometric Painted Pots

how to make a geometric painted planter via Kristina J blog

I found these very cool birch plant pots on my last trip to IKEA and thought they'd be the perfect planters for my patio table.  The wood is really awesome, but since my patio table is white, I wanted to accent with some color. I've seen a lot of people used acrylics to paint, but since I'm horrible with an artist's paintbrush, I stuck with spray paint.

WHAT YOU NEED
--wood or metal planters
--spray paint (I used Rustoleum in GLOSS Berry Pink)
--painter's tape

WHAT YOU DO
1.  Using painter's tape, mark off the planter with a geometric design.
2.  Spray paint all sides of the planter, covering sides not being painted to prevent overspray.
3. Remove tape immediately for cleaner lines. DONE.

If you prefer a more subtle shot of color, you could simply paint the rim of the planter a bright shade to coordinate with your decor like in this picture.
