Wearing: Nerd-Chic

I spend more time at the library than you can imagine (and not just for story-time with my kids, either) so these pictures sorta represent a day-in-the-life for me.
I'm always trying to surround my children with this atmosphere.
I want my children to love words and reading. It's the key to so much, don't you think--that ability to immerse yourself into an author's point-of-view and open your mind to new ideas, then filter what you've read through your value system.
Mark Twain said,
"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them."
I love when my children ask me to read to them...that they're excited about what might happen on the next page. I never want them to lose that wonder that comes from rustling the pages of a good book--the awe of new places and people that the written word can bring to their minds.

This is a great video about why my generation supposedly thinks books are boring.
Make sure to watch it to the end. It will surprise you.

  1. A truly chic outfit...I love it! And I agree with you about books, I'm probably one of few people who refuse to read on a kindle. Amazing video...

  3. I love that tank!!Swoon!

I used to take my kids to the library several times a week when they were little. I was a single mom with 4 kids so things that were free were a no brainer. I think it was the best gift I've given them.

Now they are 19,17,16 and 14 and still relish going to library. One of my daughters told me that she is the only one out of her friends that reads for fun! The first thing my oldest daughter did after she turned 18 was register to vote and get her own library card:D

  4. You must have been the most stylish lady in the library - what a gorgeous combo. I will certainly be reading books to my future kiddies. It's so crucial for their learning and increases their vocab!

  7. I wish I could get comfortable enough to wear that kind of ensemble to a place like the library...Every time, I'll opt for the jean skirt and cotton tee instead! You are definitely one very chic "chick"!
