This fabric was draped on my dummy for days before I could decide what to do with it....I so did not want to mess up something so purdy. I originally had great maxi dress plans for this fabric and I still might construct a maxi version, but after I draped the bodice, the shorter gathered circle skirt practically designed itself. Yeah. It was kinda freaky.
The Holland dress is a brilliant explosion of crepe de chine with a semi-blousant front bodice and flutter sleeves, because I don't think there's anything more annoying in the summer than a dress that sticks to you. The extra full skirt is all swishy and girly and stuff, which is so unexpected of my designs, I know. HA.
To say I love this dress would be an understatement. There. Glad to get that off my chest. During the process of constructing this dress I discovered that design expectations can be dangerous, but they can also be wildly exceeded
I might just wear this dress all week. I'm kidding. (I'm not kidding.)
Please tell me that you are going to finally sell some of your dresses to the public!! I am dying to buy!:)

ReplyDeleteThat is sumptuous fabric! Do you think you will ever put a tulle petticoat under it so that it sits out even more full? And I'm with Chrissy and Lisa... :)
ReplyDeleteI love, and am a little jealous, that you know your style so well. Everything you make is beautiful and creative, but I can also tell that it fits with who you are!
ReplyDeleteI bet your daughter just gasps with adoration...one day when shes older and can wear your creations, she will be proud that her momma makes such beautiful things....
