Summer Upcycled Fashion

Monday, June 10, 2013

I'm the opposite of a hoarder, especially concerning clothes.
If I buy a new piece, I get rid of an old one. I sell anything I haven't used in six months on eBay. I'm completely non-sentimental when it comes to fashion. But even with all my closet weeding and cleaning, I seem to own way too many pretty (but un-used) items.
That stops now. Time to stop buying more stuff and start upcycling the stuff I have.

Personal reasons for upcyclying:
1.  I'm in the middle of a move and don't have time to design a wardrobe from scratch.
2.  The more I recycle, the less I'll have to cart to Goodwill.
3.  It's more cost-effective.
4.  It's a more responsible management of my belongings.
5.  It gives me an outlet for my creativity to flourish.
6.  It provides much needed DIY blog fodder!

For my refashion projects this summer, I'll be using items all ready hanging in my closet to upcycle my way to  a brand new summer wardrobe! Between my husband's polo shirt castoffs, over-sized dresses and boring t-shirts, I've already got the possibility of at least 12 new pieces. Score
Let the summer of upcycled fashion begin!

  4. I've been thinking along these same lines - but lack your energy... If I get 1 done - I will be thrilled (I did just refashion a dress into a maxi skirt tho - so that's a start!) And you actually are able to sell your clothes on ebay? I've had such limited success there - good for you! oh - and looking forward to what you whip up...

  5. I am trying to find your ebay seller page? I'd love to follow and possibly pick up a piece here or there that you are getting rid of :) Thanks!
