from Walmart, and similar versions just
keep popping up every summer.
This year's versions are embellished with
ribbons, leather flowers and fabric pom-poms,
so I thought I'd give my old stand-by's a little face lift.
Make sure you buy the twill tape,
not the iron-on hem tape shown in the picture.
For the shoes, I used pinking shears for this step.
And just a couple pics to prove that I'm stickin' to the color scheme this week!
This is how I stepped out to my son's first baseball game of the season.
I wish I'd have had my sandals done before I took these pics,
'cuz I so would have worn them with this outfit.
(Maxi skirt, thrifted, LOFT jacket, J.Crew tee, H&M flower pin, UO Kimchi Blue flats)
Aren't you clever! I'm going to try and make some of the flowers one day and attach them to my plain tshirts. It looks so easy! thanks
ReplyDeleteLove going to try this asap!
ReplyDeletelove! Maybe I'll try the flower trick on a pair of shoes in my closet. I also loved the flower pin you are wearing!
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. Genius!!! Thanks so much for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the best, easiest do it yourself I've seen in a LONG time! I have a DIY Anthro necklace post in the lineup that is very similar. I've been wanting to make it from forever ago. I"ll have to declare a self-imposed project day here really soon and make 'em both! Thanks so much for the fabulous inspiration. And I love the colors of tape you chose.
ReplyDeleteOh, so cute! I think I have some of that tape stashed away somewhere...
ReplyDeleteAww~~ Kristina! This is brilliant and your tutorials are always just so easy and creative!

Great idea and so cute. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to pin this idea so I can attempt it myself later. It looks super easy and I love the result!
ReplyDeleteNice job. Those are super cute.
ReplyDeleteI love this project! I have been looking for an easy DIY project to try and bring out my crafty side this summer, and this is such a fun one! In fact I think I like the DIY-ed version of these sandals better than the original - the three-tone, ombre-like combination of fabric is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog!
Cute idea! Come and join my linky party: http://fabricbowsandmore.blogspot.com/
