Constructing: J.Crew #2 Pencil Skirt

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Skirt--Kristina J.
Cardi and belt--J.Crew
Rensselaer Pumps--Anthropologie
Bag--Gap
Watch--AE
The J.Crew pencil skirt--it's hard to imagine any other skirt is more deserving of its permanent residence on the corner of awesome and bomb-diggety.  What's not to love?  It's ultra-fabulous, meticulously shaped--a design icon. But the price...ouch....which is exactly why I built my own version of this skirt. I have a really hard time paying a high price for what is essentially two rectangles sewn together, no matter how fabulous those rectangles might be and now I'm thinking I should probably go for all six colors, no?
I love when some pretty detail on the inside of a piece of clothing surprises me with a shot of unexpected color. Floral fabric takes a waistband facing to a whole new level. Obviously, it's the small things in life that get me excited. That's my constructed piece for this week, mah dears.
Hmm...what should I make next? Decisions, decisions...

  10. Love the pencil skirt. Actually love the sweater and coordinating belt as well. You really have it going on, girl! My wardrobe consists of pencil skirts (if you call the long ones that?) and mostly long dresses. I've made a few pencil skirts of my own. Mostly, however, I just buy them at a thrift store for about $2.50 a pop!
