Spring '12 Collection: Indus Valley

Indus Valley Dress

This is the first dress I sketched for the collection, but never thought I'd find the right fabric to actually construct it. This fabric was more amazing than I imagined when dreaming up the dress design and was fabulous to work with...sateen cotton with just the right hint of shine and brush-stroked watercolors that instantly transport the mind to exotic locales.
Pretty...yes. It's partially structured with a fitted waist and precise, pin-tucked pleats.
Feminine...absolutely...but by using the wildness of the print to imitate an ombre effect you're reminded that it's not quite a tame dress.
My goal with Indus Valley was to design the sort of dress woman would rush to wear at the first hint of sun-warmed air after months of dreary, winter days.

What sort of occasion would you attend wearing the Indus Valley dress?

  1. It's so pretty! I don't go out much so I'd even wear it to work with a cardi. But it would also be great for a day orchestra concert.

  18. This is such a beautiful dress, Kristina. I especially love that it has sleeves, which would make it comfortable for many women to wear alone, without a cardigan. I think I would wear this as a guest to a garden wedding. Or, to afternoon tea : )

Thank you for sharing your collection!

  19. How beautiful! I love that it's modest and has pockets!

I'd definitely wear it to church, but I'd have to start looking for excuses to wear it other times! Grocery shopping? Vacuuming? (With pearls, of course. ;)

    Thanks for sharing!
