Making it Work: Bellerby Skirt

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I was going to have a vote using your email requests to see which item you most wanted to see in this post, but didn't need to because the Anthropologie Bellerby skirt was requested more than anything else.
And conveniently, I just happen to own it...

#1 THE LADY
Always looking for more ways to wear this cardigan.
(Anthro Precious Metals Cardi, HUE tights, Rampage Kassy Oxford)

#2 THE CASUAL
It's my pick-up-the-kids, run to the bank, grab a Starbucks, stop by the library outfit.
I think you can even tell by the tired look in my face that I just got done doing all those things!
(Gap Denim Shirt, Crown Vintage Hudson Oxfords)

#3 THE GOOFBALL
Only the crazy child inside me would pair stripes, green boucle and a pink zipper together.
(Anthropologie Four Petals Cardi, UO Kimichi Blue Skimmers)

#4 THE THROW-TOGETHER
See what cool things the wind does to this skirt!? Ahh...clothes that move.
Those girls in jeans don't know what they're missin'.
(Anthropologie Season's Way Top, Breezy Polkas Cardigan, Crown Vintage Hudson Oxfords)

#5 THE DAINTY
I felt a little like the great-granddaughter of an English gentleman in this...not sure that's a good thing, but I did like the dark, breezy blouse with the skirt.
(Forever21 Blouse, Steve Madden Booties)

#6 THE SOCCERMOM
I know, I know. All-star Chucks with the Bellerby? I promise, it's a severe personality flaw. But no Making It Work post would be complete without this version of everything I own. I just chalk it up to my busy momma lifestyle.
(LOFT stripe sweater, All-star Chucks)

#7 THE BELTED
You realize how crazy it is for me to feature just one outfit with a belt?
I mean, seriously, I normally belt EVERYTHING. (Another severe personality flaw?)
(Anthropologie Ha'penney Cardi and Enchanted Eyes Belt, J.Crew tank, UO socks, MIA Cadet Bootie)

# 8 THE NERD
I had laser eye surgery a couple years ago, but on this day, I was really wishing for some nerd-chic glasses to complete the look...hehehe...
(J.Crew Merino V-Neck Vest and Tuxedo Blouse, Crown Vintage Hudson Oxfords)

#8 THE INTERN
I have never been an intern, but if I had, this is what I'd be wearing to the office.
(LOFT Scuba Blazer, J.Crew Bow Tank, HUE tights, Rampage Kassy Oxfords)

I had to make sure to get all these outfits in before Thanksgiving so the skirt would actually fit!
I am so looking forward to the annual, post-Thanksgiving dinner turkey-induced mini coma.
I just finished all the dresses for the six bridesmaid wedding tonight, so I think a mini coma is just what I deserve!
Much love, readers!

  2. Oh Kristina! I love thest posts where you style things in several different ways. One of my personality flaws is to do the same thing/wear the same style items together...such a boring rut. Great inspiration!

  4. Just found your blog this week! Great to see that you and your family are doing well... your kiddos are so cute! :)

I love the posts like this one. So often I get in a rut with items. It's so fun to see thing with a fresh look! I also love the clothing remakes and I would love to see more before/after pictures. :)

  6. I'm having a hard time picking my fav look--it's the intern vs the goofball. I'm into mixing prints right now, so I think the four petals cardi and skirt are a perfect combo!!
I have a request (and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders): I would really like to see your closet and how you keep all this organized! Bless my husband--a while back he built me a 8ft by 6ft shoe rack that looks like something straight out of a shoe store. What to you do--I'm positive you have more shoes than I do!

  8. What a wonderful post, Kristina! I have difficulty picking a favorite look, but I love how you're wearing the Precious Materials cardi tucked in. And I definitely love the Intern outfit. I've never been an intern either, but I'm one of the younger employees at my organization...close enough, right?

  9. OK. Now i totally regret not getting this skirt. OMG Kristina, these looks are terrific and I am not sure which is my fave. I love The Lady, The Intern and The Dainty! I also love the Throw-together how the skirt blows the hem up!
Thank you so much for a great post. These posts of yours are always brilliant!

  10. Helen--Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Damicomm--I went and counted my shoes. I have ten pair (including my booties), plus three pairs of boots that I consistently wear. That's not really a lot, is it? It doesn't feel like it, because they all fit in the bottom of my 2x3 foot closet. I have the smallest closet in history. The hangers that hold 8 skirts each are awesome!

Charity--It was awesome to see you pop up over here after all these years. So many memories...

    Jamie--You are the consummate lady.

Jen--I'm sure you can still get the skirt if you call CS.
